Hi again,
As you can see, I have added a couple of pictures to my blog.
One is of a hobbyhorse I made for a granddaughter, and the other is a rocking horse I made for them a few years ago. I also make birdhouses, but I will get into that at a later date.
Anyway, back to the hobby horses, I use 1"by 8" pine for the head. I made a template and cut it out with a band saw (a jigsaw would also work). After sanding, I stained and varnished it. I then added the ears, eyes, and the mane. I drilled a hole in the base and inserted the dowelling (broom handle). The strap can be a strip of rope, tubing, or leather,
